Best routes in Canada

Canada is an ideal destination for those who love the outdoors and want to explore all of the nature the country has to offer. There are many great things to discover such as kayaking, hiking, whale-watching and of course the cities. Rent a van, take the family and discover everything that Canada has to offer.

Unsure where to go in Canada? We have created four itineraries for you to follow. Whether you want to stick to the countryside or visit the cities, these routes will inspire you to discover beautiful Canada.

Itinerary #1 : The Basics

A flying visit to Canada? These are the best bits

Duration : 1 week

Steps :
Days 1-3 -> Toronto
Day 4 -> Day trip to Niagra Falls
Days 5-7 -> Ottawa

Tips : Don't miss the CN Tower in Toronto, particularly the LookOut Level and the Glass Floor. On the border with the United States, Niagra Falls is an unmissable day trip not too far away from Toronto.

Ottawa, the capital, is not the biggest city in Canada but not one to be overlooked. Don't miss the National Gallery of Canada and Canada's Cold War Museum, both in Ottawa.

Itinerary #2 : British Colombia

Discover the great outdoors in British Colombia

Duration : 2 weeks

Steps :
Days 1-4 -> Vancouver
Days 5-7 -> Victoria
Days 8-9 -> Sooke
Days 10-11 -> Pacific Rim National Park Reserve
Days 12-13 -> Strathcona Provincial Park

Tips : There is plenty to do in Vancouver, particularly for those who are active. Head to the mountains, but don't miss Stanley Park for a day trip. After Victoria, head to the nature parks for hiking and activities such as kayaking. There's plenty to keep nature lovers busy.

Itinerary #3 : Fortnight of Adventure

Want to discover more of Canada in a fortnight?

Duration : 2 weeks

Steps :
Days 1-3 -> Québec City
Days 4-6 -> Saint John (New Brunswick)
Days 7-9 -> Prince Edward Island
Days 10-14 -> St John's and Saint Pierre and Miquelon

Tips : Newfoundland is the perfect place for whale-watching and kayaking. Head to Saint John situated on the shore of the Bay of Fundy where you will see the world's most extreme tides. If you want picturesque lighthouses and red sandstone cliffs, check out Prince Edward Island. If experiencing nature is becoming too much, try the nightlife in the town of St John's. Saint Pierre and Miquelon is great to see seals, and feels like a mini-France.

Itinerary #4 : The Grand Tour

Want to see everything?!

Duration : 2 months

Steps :
Month 1 -> Québec City, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto
Month 2 -> Calgary, Jasper National Park, Vancouver, Victoria

Tips : Start with the cities in the East, and end with the nature in the West. This trip encompasses everything you need for a grand tour of Canada.

Don't miss Jasper National Park and the Rocky Mountains; this is sure to keep you busy as there is so much to explore. Fly between Toronto and Calgary, otherwise the drive will be a trip in itself!
